We all know the story of Jairus, the synagogue leader who pleaded with Jesus to heal his daughter (Mark 5:21-42). And we also know the questions of Jairus because we've faced the fear of Jairus. His daughter is our sick child, spouse, marriage or career. He's not the first to ask Jesus for a miracle. He's not the first to wonder if Jesus can, cares, or comes.

We've wondered the same. And, with belief weighing an ounce more than unbelief, we've rushed toward Jesus, fallen at his feet and begged. And he gives us the answer we want, gives us hope. But halfway to the miracle, Jesus stops. The cancer returns, the heart hardens, the factory closes, the opportunity passes. We find ourselves on the outside looking in, feeling like a low item on God's to do list, wondering if Jesus remembers. Wondering if he can or cares or comes...
